Damnation

Damnation - Dante Caligari This novel deals with interesting themes, and depicts an intriguing world, where the uses of technology really have a double edge—notably when it comes to scanning minds, with all the ethical problems it raises. The fast pace and plot twists also kept me interested until the end, and I liked how the 'search for God' was tackled in this story.

On the other hand, said story would benefit from much more editing. I was thrown off-balance more than once by jarring tense shifts, abuse of exclamation points, and a confused narrative; at some point, for instance, I wasn't sure anymore if I was reading about present!Ray or the Ray from 6 years ago. I also hard a hard time connecting with the characters, maybe because of that disjunction in the story's flow. There is potential in this book, but it needs more writing work.
