White Night

White Night - Jim Butcher

I liked it, but maybe not as much as I thought I would.

Action-packed, with quite the powerful scene at the end. Looks like the archenemy (or at least, a more recent yet very strong enemy) has decided to stick around. Molly isn't so dense as I feared she might be. Some loose ends get tied—a couple of which I had almost forgotten, considering that I read the first books 2-3 years ago. All in all, a fun and entertaining read, and one that I breezed through.

On the other hand, somehow it felt a little too close to an earlier plot with the vampires. (I guess I'm just a necromancy girl, not a vampire one, hah.) And this may seem minor, but... the gay joke regarding Harry and Thomas gets old really fast. It came off as a "let's all be tolerant" speech, while at the same time underlining that Harry was somewhat ashamed of it nonetheless. Kind of "it's totally OK... as long as I'm not concerned." I'm not too fond of that.
